how to operate - presentation
The Electricity Market is operated through an Information System, which is accessed by Market Participants through the Internet. Information exchange between Market Participants, GME and Terna (including submission of offers/bids, notification of market results and of schedules defined by GME in the MGP and MI, notification of changes to the schedules made by Terna in the MSD) takes place through the exchange of XML files via the Internet or the completion of forms available on GME’s website (web forms).

Access to the Electricity Market Information System is based on digital identification security procedures, smart cards with digital certificates for authentication of digital signatures and completion of purchase & sale contracts in the market. The digital certificate for market access may be issued by Agid-certified companies.

Transactions take place in the Trading Room equipped with software & hardware for collection, processing and management of offers/bids that are submitted in the markets organised and managed by GME. The Trading Room personnel works under maximum security conditions, ensuring continuous operation of the systems and providing support to Market Participants. Admission to the Trading Room is restricted to GME’s personnel. However, visitors may apply for access to the “visitors’ area”, from which they can watch the interior of the Trading Room and a giant screen showing data on transactions in the Electricity Market.
