GUARANTEES OF ORIGIN: trading platforms now operational
We inform you that GME has completed all the activities needed for the transition from the RECO certification system to the GO (Guarantee of Origin) system, in compliance with article 31, para. 1 of the Ministerial Decree of 6 July 2012.
As of today, GME’s platforms for the trading of Guarantees of Origin, previously called Renewable-Energy Certificates of Origin (RECOs), are again operational.
After the updating of the applicable legislation and GSE’s publication of the procedure for identifying renewable power plants and issuing and managing guarantees of origin, GME made amendments and additions to the Rules governing the regulated market and the platform for registering bilaterals of guarantees of origin, as well as to the related Technical Rules.
The main changes are outlined below.
The Renewable-Energy Certificates of Origin (RECOs) are now called “Guarantees of Origin” (GOs) and are valid for one year.
As regards the GO Market (M-GO), the new order books divide the GOs by year, by type and also by generation period, as follows:
- “GOs January” pertaining to the month of January of the year “y” and valid 12 months beginning from the generation period;
- “GOs February” pertaining to the month of February of the year “y” and valid 12 months beginning from the generation period,
- “GOs Other months” pertaining to the remaining months of the year “y” and valid until 31 March “y+1”.
As regards the platform of GO bilaterals (PB-GO), participants may - upon registration of transactions on GME’s platform - select other fields in addition to the previously available ones, e.g. generation country, generation period (month “from” … “to” ….), RECS attribute and possible support received for generation.
Parties wishing to trade foreign GOs in the Italian market must open an ownership account within GSE’s GO Registry and transfer the amount of GOs to be traded in GME’s regulated market to their account through GSE’s GO information portal.
The first session of the M-GO will be held on 19 September.
