GME organises and manages the natural gas balancing platform (PB-GAS). On the PB-GAS,
the authorised users referred to in art. 1, para. 1 k) of AEEG’s Decision ARG/gas 45/11 (users of the storage service, except for transmission companies and users
of the strategic storage service only) may - after registering with GME - daily
submit demand bids and supply offers for the storage resources that they have
available.
Likewise, Snam Rete Gas may - as balancing operator - submit demand bids and supply
offers for a volume of gas corresponding to the overall imbalance of the system,
with a view to procuring the resources offered by Participants and needed to keep
the gas system balanced.
The selection of bids/offers accepted on the PB-GAS is based on the auction mechanism.
The session of the PB-GAS takes place on a daily basis and ends on the gas-day immediately
following the one to which transactions refer.
The timetable of each session of the PB-GAS is as follows:
- the sitting for submission
of bids/offers by Participants opens at 9:00 a.m. of the fourth gas-day preceding
the gas-day to which bids/offer refer and ends at 8:00 p.m. of the gas-day to which
bids/offer refer;
- the results are published by GME by 11:00 a.m. of the gas-day following the one to which bids/offers refer.
