Microsoft Teams - 19/11/2025 - Incontri con gli Operatori
TIDE Completion, 1 February 2026 – GME’s webinar on changes to market design and start of blank tests with market participants
As established by ARERA, the consolidation stage of Testo Integrato del Dispacciamento Elettrico (TIDE - Integrated Text of Electricity Dispatching Rules, pursuant to Resolution 304/2024/R/eel, as subsequently amended and supplemented by Resolution 227/2025/R/eel) will begin on 1 February 2016 (flow date).
As is known, this stage will mark the entry into force of provisions aimed at completing the market design defined by TIDE and, consequently, the adoption of the related implementing rules governing the operation of the wholesale electricity market. In particular, TIDE provides that, inter alia, beginning on 1 February 2026, the following key features shall be introduced:
- definition of new identification data for units: new coding system for units based on the TIDE nomenclature;
- setting of margins for withdrawal UVZ (zonal virtual units);
- introduction of the role of the Balancing Service Provider (BSP), distinct from that of the Balance Responsible Party (BRP).
WEBINAR ON 19 NOVEMBER 2025
GME will organise a webinar for market participants on 19 November 2025, with a view to:
- describing the procedure and timeline for implementing changes to the electricity market design in view of the TIDE consolidation stage, and their impact on portfolio and nomination management;
- describing updates to its market information platforms and the new Nomination platform introduced to implement the new features, as well as the detailed schedule of blank tests, which will enable market participants to carry out the necessary tests and align their systems accordingly.
On the same occasion, GME will provide updates on the planned change to the Gate Closure Time (GCT) for intraday continuous trading (XBID). As indicated in EU projects, the GCT will be shifted to 30 minutes before real time; as a result, the time limit for submitting nominations will be postponed to 27 minutes before physical delivery.

TESTS WITH MARKET PARTICIPANTS
In order to test the above-mentioned new features, GME will organise blank test sessions – involving GME itself, Terna, and market participants - beginning on 17 November 2025; the tests will be held according to the following procedure and schedule.
Planning of test activities – general information
Test activities, divided into different stages, will take place in the period from 17 November to 30 January 2026.
During the first test week, from 17 to 21 November, market participants will be able to access the test platform to view a preliminary, partial list of their units – featuring the new naming conventions adopted for the TIDE consolidation stage - as made available by Terna, and to freely submit bids/offers (in their current format) across the various markets.
The detailed schedule of the tests to be held in the following weeks, along with the stages of progressive updating of the list of units available for each market participant will be communicated weekly on GME’s test platforms.
For any queries about the test sessions, please contact GME at: proveME@mercatoelettrico.org.
